Resource economy

Splendor

Collect resources and turn them into cards that can make later purchases easier. A compact set of recurring actions creates a useful introduction to the tension between building future purchasing power and taking a direct scoring opportunity.

What to watch for

Watch the resource-taking limits, the cost of buying a card and the purpose of reserving one. Notice how permanent bonuses differ from tokens that are spent. Keep those two resource types physically clear during the explanation so players can read their purchasing options at a glance.

At your first table

Before starting, check the supply and setup for your player count. Demonstrate a purchase that uses both bonuses and tokens, then reset the example. Explain the end trigger and how the final round is completed. During play, make sure reserved cards and public information are handled according to the rules of the edition you own.

A video helps explain the flow. Use the rulebook and official corrections for your copy to resolve a rules question.
