Tile placement

Carcassonne

A landscape grows one tile at a time, and each addition can alter the possibilities around it. It is a useful game for thinking about the difference between placing a legal tile and choosing a productive position on a shared board.

What to watch for

Follow the sequence from drawing a tile to placing it, assigning a follower when permitted and resolving completed features. Watch how features connect across tile boundaries. A clear physical example is especially helpful when explaining why a space is already occupied.

At your first table

For your first session, confirm which components belong to the base game and which are optional additions in your box. Demonstrate one completed feature and the return of its pieces. Before final scoring, review what happens to unfinished features. Discuss the landscape as shared information while leaving individual placement choices to their owners.

A video helps explain the flow. Use the rulebook and official corrections for your copy to resolve a rules question.
